Greg Jones
Vice President, Valdez Operations
Greg
Jones is the Vice President of Valdez Operations with oversight of all
operations and baseline maintenance for the Valdez Marine Terminal and
SERVS. Originally from Aiken, South Carolina, Mr. Jones holds a
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Sciences from the Coast Guard Academy and
a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of
Michigan. He completed a 20-year career with the U.S. Coast Guard, where
he held a variety of positions in the operations, marine safety and
environmental protection programs.
Mr. Jones gained extensive knowledge of Prince William Sound operations
and issues, and worked with various stakeholders as a former Commanding
Officer of the Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Office in Valdez. After
retiring at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC, Mr. Jones
returned to Alaska in 1997 and joined Alyeska’s Ship Escort Response
Vessel System (SERVS) team. As the SERVS Asset Manager, he presided over
implementation of a new vessel fleet strategy which involved transition
to the Sentinel Escort System and the incorporation of newly built
state-of-the-art tugs into the SERVS fleet. Mr. Jones has since served
as Valdez Marine Terminal Manager and Valdez Business Unit Manager where
he led the VMT in accomplishing an array of major maintenance
activities, including the construction of the Valdez Terminal Office
building. Most recently, Mr. Jones served as the Senior Vice President
of Operations and Maintenance for the pipeline, Valdez Marine Terminal
and SERVS.
Greg and his wife Anne have three children, Ryan, Kellie and Jenna.
