Alyeska's rising stars,
Internships on TAPS

From right to left: Trevor Slade, Ida Petersen, John
Barnick, Alessa Poe, Travis Sommer, and Jared Tee. Not pictured
are Valdez interns Dave Cushwa and Chris Webber.
Interns in Valdez wrapped up their end of year presentations.
“It was standing room only,” said Robin Thompson, Acting Alaska
Native Program Manager. “They each gave excellent presentations,
and all of the interns did outstanding work this summer. It’s
very rewarding to watch these young men and women develop and
grow as professionals in their fields.”
Four of the eight Valdez interns have been offered and accepted
extended internships, and one candidate was hired as an
operator. All of the extended internships will be funded through
Alyeska’s Alaska Native Program.
Several of the interns have applied to enter Alyeska’s Building
Foundation for Excellence Program (BFEP). The BFEP develops
valued candidates and focuses on transferring knowledge within
the workforce in anticipation of future business needs.
Participants gain experience and receive training in areas such
as leadership, management, technical operations, engineering,
safety and regulatory compliance. The participants are matched
with professionals who provide guidance and mentorship. The goal
of BFEP is to position individuals for a long-term path on TAPS.
For more information about opening in the BFEP, visit
Alyeska's employment page.
