Tom Barrett addresses Pipeline Training Academy graduates

On Oct. 28, Alyeska President Tom Barrett gave the keynote address at the Tenth Alaska Pipeline Training Academy graduation. Approximately 100 apprentices and trainees attended from the Plumbers and Pipefitters, the Operating Engineers, the Teamsters, and the Laborers.

In his remarks, Barrett stressed the three values that guide Alyeska: safety, teamwork and innovation. He also shared some advice on how the graduates could get ahead, on their job or in their lives.

  • First, be good at what you do (fundamental competence).

  • Second, look out for yourself and each other (safety).

  • Lastly, keep your commitments and meet your deadlines (integrity).

Barrett congratulated the graduates on demonstrating these competencies during the recently completed pipeline training and wished them continued success. The graduating students presented Tom with a plaque to thank Alyeska for supporting the training center over the past decade.
