Oil spill prevention and response preparedness are essential elements of Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) operations, especially at the Port of Valdez and in Prince William Sound. The Ship Escort Response Vessel System (SERVS) conducts numerous spill response drills to perfect skills and test equipment.

RO-BOOM reusable oil containment boom is a mainstay of SERVS’ offshore-spill response equipment. SERVS barges carry reels of this durable boom that responders can quickly inflate and deploy around spills to prevent oil from spreading and to protect fragile marine shorelines.
