Alyeska
recognizes Veterans’ contributions
November 11 was Veterans Day, a time to honor individuals who
served and defended our country and sacrificed so much to protect
and ensure the freedoms and liberties that we, as Americans,
cherish.
Alyeska Pipeline Service Company is fortunate to have many
veterans working on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System, both as
employees and contractors.
I want to publicly recognize our TAPS veterans and thank them on
behalf of the entire company for their service. I also extend this
thank you to the families of TAPS workers who have members who are
veterans or active members of the military. We appreciate the
commitment these families make to support veterans and our troops.
On a personal note, I'm honored to know that we have such a strong
connection with those who have served.
We recently recognized Alyeska’s Anchorage-based veterans at a
communication meeting in Anchorage. We asked veterans in the room
to stand and be recognized. More than 20 men and women stood while
the rest in attendance applauded. We then asked how many people
had family members who served or are currently serving; and nearly
everybody raised a hand. It was a tremendous visual recognition of
the connection many of us have with the armed services.
In December, we’ll host our annual Armed Services Appreciation
Lunch where we invite members of the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard,
Navy, Marine Corps, Air Guard, and Army Guard to lunch. We enjoy
the opportunity and know they do as well.
It's important for all Americans to remember the individuals who
have made the commitment to serve our country, and we at Alyeska
pay special tribute to all of the men and women in the TAPS family
who have served.
