Pipeline Operations and Maintenance Reaches Historic Milestone
On
September 30, Pipeline Operations and Maintenance achieved a
major safety milestone by marking an entire year without a
reportable incident, the first such achievement in Alyeska
history. It is a particularly impressive feat when you consider
the type of work this group does every day in the most
challenging conditions. It should be noted that reportable
incidents include any event that requires medical treatment
beyond basic first aid or an examination.
This team
includes pump station technicians and supervisors, line-wide
maintenance technicians and supervisors, the maintenance support
team, and pipeline staff that operate and maintain the pump
stations and pipeline facilities. Despite ample opportunity for
distractions, they remained sharply focused on our most
important priority: safety.
"I firmly
believe that supervisors and technicians are sharply focused on
their day-to-day work, especially the routine work that at first
glance does not indicate a potential hazard," according to John
Baldridge, acting Pipeline Manager. "Together we can achieve our
mutual goal of a consistently injury-free TAPS."
