Integrity Management on TAPS
Safety Integrity Pressure Protection System

Safety Integrity Pressure Protection System (SIPPS) is a critical evaluation system that will enhance the safety design and significantly improve the system reliability of TAPS. This March, the final cutover to the new SIPPS was activated marking a significant phase of transitioning Pump Station 9 to electrically driven pumps. This is an essential milestone in the process of Strategic Reconfiguration that will upgrade and standardize operating equipment to improve efficiency. This new system enables live SIPPS control of safety functions at the pump stations and along the pipeline, and monitors communications and controls between the valves, and control systems at the pump stations and the Operations Control Center. The safety design and redundancy of SIPPS will result in improved system reliability.
