Investing in Alaska’s Future
On
behalf of Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, I am proud to
announce we have pledged a $500,000 contribution to the
University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). This donation is an
investment in Alaska’s future and our company’s future. We are
committed to giving back to those institutions that support our
state’s economy and strengthen our workforce with top quality
graduates. In 2006, Alyeska completed its $300,000 investment in
the University of Alaska’s ANSEP (Alaska Native Science and
Engineering Program) building in Anchorage.
Throughout the years, Alyeska’s strong relationship with the
university system in Alaska has been instrumental to the growth
and success of our workforce.
The $500,000 grant will be paid out in installments of $100,000
per year for five years. This donation will be used to bolster
three programs at UAF; The Rural Alaska Honors Institute, known
as RAHI, will receive $250,000, while the School of Management’s
Master’s of Business Administration program and the Science for
Alaska Lecture Series will each receive $125,000.
RAHI is a bridging program that assists students in rural Alaska
when making the academic and social transition from high school
to college. Alyeska will commit $50,000 annually to provide
rural students with an interest in science or engineering the
opportunity to commence study in these areas.
The contribution to the UAF School of Management, MBA program
will provide two annual Alaska Native MBA fellowship
scholarships at $12,500 per student for five years.
Alyeska will provide $25,000 per year to the Science for Alaska
Lecture Series, organized by UAF’s Geophysical Institute. This
program provides free lectures to the public and gives teachers
an opportunity to gain continuing education credits.
Our expanded partnership with UAF will continue to strengthen
our commitment to Alaska’s future generations by supporting the
growth and development of great programs such as these.
