Enhanced Tractor Tugs

The enhanced tractor tugs of Alyeska’s Ship Escort/Response Vessel System were custom-built for the unique job they perform: safely escort tankers through Prince William Sound. At more than 10,000 horsepower, these tractor tugs are powerful, extremely maneuverable and generally regarded as the top oil spill response vessels in the world. Their special propulsion system allows them to push or pull in any direction with equal force, making them highly maneuverable and more than capable of meeting the challenges of operating in the Sound.

The enhanced tractor tugs most often serve as the tethered tug during the escort of a laden tanker. The strength of the SERVS fleet is in its use of best available technology and vessel versatility.
