In the Field
Pump station upgrades underway
Construction crews started work this fall to
prepare Pump Stations 1, 3, 4, 5 and 9 for
upgrades as part of Alyeska's strategic
reconfiguration, or pipeline modernization
project. PS 1, 3, 4 and 9 are being
electrified, automated and upgraded to use
new modular mainline pump systems.

Mike Meadors
Valdez Marine Terminal Operations Advisor
Mike Meadors has worked for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company since
he moved to Alaska from Bakersfield, CA in 1991. He started as a
contractor, became an Alyeska employee in 1993 and has been a
marine terminal operations advisor since 2001. Away from
work, Meadors and his wife Laura enjoy exploring Prince William
Sound in their boat. During the winter they cross-country ski and
snowshoe with their two golden retrievers.

Enhanced Tractor Tugs
Alyeska's Ship Escort/Response Vessel
System (SERVS) has two state-of-the-art enhanced tractor tugs
that provide escort and response services to the Valdez Marine
Terminal and Alaska Crude Oil Shippers in accordance with oil
spill response agreements and plans. The 153 feet long vessels
are specifically designed for tethered tanker escort and oil
spill response operations in Prince William Sound.
