Skimmers

Alyeska and its Ship Escort / Response Vessel System (SERVS) are constantly prepared to recover at least 300,000 barrels of spilled oil in Prince William Sound within 72 hours. SERVS open water response fleet includes four 148,000-plus barrel capacity storage barges equipped with TransRec 350 skimmers. These units skim and recover as much as 350 cubic meters (2,187 barrels) of spilled oil per hour. The barges are currently equipped with two TransRec skimmers each plus one additional skimmer. Alyeska is upgrading by replacing the third skimmers with TransRec 350s. SERVS protects Prince William Sound with more immediate skimming capacity than exists anywhere else in the world.
