Management on TAPS
Ensuring safe operations and system integrity on TAPS
Alyeska
Pipeline is highly regulated by more than 60 federal, state and
local agencies that oversee various aspects of the Trans Alaska
Pipeline System. The activities of 12 major oversight agencies
are coordinated through the Joint Pipeline Office (JPO) located
in Anchorage. As federal and state landowner representatives,
the Bureau of Land Management and Department of Natural
Resources have oversight authority under the right-of-way
agreements over safety, environment and system integrity issues.
Other JPO agencies have regulatory authority over TAPS
integrity, operations, maintenance, environmental protection and
public safety.
