TRANS ALASKA PIPELINE SLOWED FOR ALMOST SIX HOURS

ANCHORAGE, AK -- April 8, 1996. -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Company reported today that North Slope production was reduced to seventy percent at 10:30 p.m. on April 6 due to high storage tank inventory at the Valdez Marine Terminal. High winds and poor weather in the Gulf of Alaska delayed tanker arrivals at the Marine Terminal. Oil production returned to normal throughput of 1.49 barrels per day at 4:17 a.m. on April 7.

The Joint Pipeline Office has been notified of the incident.
