SCHEDULED SHUTDOWN OF TRANS-ALASKA PIPELINE OCCURS FOR MAINTENANCE AT PUMP STATIONS 1, 4 AND 5

ANCHORAGE, AK -- May 6, 1996 -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Company reported today that a planned shutdown of the trans-Alaska pipeline is taking place today so crews can conduct scheduled maintenance work. The pipeline will be shut down for approximately 18 hours. The shutdown will allow completion of a pipe replacement project at Pump Station 5, as well as valve replacement projects at Pump Stations 1 and 4.

Alyeska’s revised Quality Program will be closely followed during the shutdown, and Alyeska’s Audits and Surveillance group will be monitoring work to ensure procedures are followed.

The Joint Pipeline Office also has personnel on-site observing the shutdown activities.
