TANKER LOADING STOPPED DURING BRIEF POWER OUTAGE

ANCHORAGE, AK -- May 16, 1996 -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Company reported today that tanker loading at the Marine Terminal in Valdez was briefly halted last night when electrical power was lost due to a main boiler outage at the Terminal. A second boiler was undergoing repairs and was not available. Backup diesel power was started providing limited power availability to the Terminal, including the Operations Control Center (OCC) and the Power House. Partial tanker loading operations resumed approximately 45 minutes after the loss of power halted the loading process. Full power was restored to the Terminal by 6:25 a.m. today and at 8:15 a.m., tanker loading operations fully resumed.

The Joint Pipeline Office has been notified of the incident.
