TRANS ALASKA PIPELINE SHIPMENTS SLOWED

ANCHORAGE, AK -- September 12, 1996 -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Company reported today that pipeline throughput was slowed by thirty percent at 9:00 a.m. today due to anticipated high storage tank inventory at the Valdez Marine Terminal. Tanker arrival schedules and storage tank maintenance have caused the high inventory situation at the Valdez Marine Terminal. Oil throughput is expected to return to normal levels Saturday, September 14.

The Joint Pipeline Office has been notified of the slowdown.
