FOAM RELEASE IN EAST METERING BUILDING

ANCHORAGE, AK -- October 18, 1996 -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Company reported today there was an accidental release of approximately 590 gallons of fire suppressant foam inside the East Metering Building at the Valdez Marine Terminal yesterday. There was no fire and no alarms sounded. The cause of the release is unknown and is under investigation. Twelve quarts of foam escaped from the building onto nearby ground and have been cleaned up.

The Joint Pipeline Office has been notified of the incident.
