ANCHORAGE, AK -- November 20, 1996 -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Company reported that a small fire occurred today in the compressor building. The fire was caused when a hot spark (slag) fell from a worker’s cutting torch, and rolled beneath a hard rubber tire of a scissor-lift. The spark smoldered under the tire and caught fire. A worker in the area saw the fire and extinguished it with a hand-held fire extinguisher. No injuries occurred.
