POWER OUTAGE AT VALDEZ MARINE TERMINAL LASTS APPROXIMATELY FIVE HOURS

ANCHORAGE, AK -- November 22, 1996 -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Company reported that the Valdez Marine Terminal experienced a power outage which began at 10:00 a.m. today. Backup generators were on within 45 minutes of the outage, and were able to provide adequate power for the Operations Control Center and emergency functions such as fire prevention. Full power was restored at approximately 3:00 p.m.

Tanker Loading at berth one was halted when the power went out, and resumed at approximately 1:00 p.m.

The cause of the power outage is under investigation. The Joint Pipeline Office has been notified.
