ALYESKA PIPELINE SERVICE COMPANY NAMED JONES
AND NEWBOLD TO HEAD FAIRBANKS AND VALDEZ BUSINESS UNITS

ANCHORAGE, AK -- February 25, 1997 --
Bob Malone, President and CEO of Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, named two new Senior
Vice Presidents who will head offices in Fairbanks and Valdez.
Malone announced today that Lee C. Jones
has been selected as Senior Vice President of the Fairbanks Business Unit. In this role,
Jones will be responsible for Pipeline Operations. He is a long-time resident of Alaska.
Jones attended West Anchorage High School, as well as the University of Alaska in Kenai
where he studied Petroleum Technology.
Jones began his career with Alyeska in
January of 1978 as a technician on the Pipeline. He has held progressively responsible
positions including manager of the Northern Business Unit. During 1996, Jones was
recognized for his leadership in integrating the Quality Program into TAPS Operations.
Since January of this year, Jones has been on a special assignment with BP Pipelines
(Alaska).
Jones will begin his new assignment on
March 1, 1997. Jones and his wife, Debby as well as their children Jerrod and Claudia will
be relocating from Anchorage to Fairbanks in the near future.
Malone also appointed Bill Newbold as the
Senior Vice President of the Valdez Business Unit. The Valdez organization will include
the Terminal and the Ship Escort / Response Vessel System (SERVS) operations. Newbold has
twenty-nine years of experience in the oil producing / oil servicing industry. Newbold
joined Exxon Corporation in December 1967. While with Exxon, Bill's career included such
positions as Sales Representative, Financial Analyst, Sales Supervisor, Maintenance Center
Manager, and Southeast Operations Zone Manager.
In July 1996 Newbold became an Alyeska
employee after having joined Alyeska in September 1993 as the Valdez Terminal Business
Unit Leader.
Newbold received his Bachelor of Science
degree from East Tennessee State University. Bill will begin his new assignment on March
1, 1997, in Valdez where he currently resides with his wife, Paula. The Newbolds have a
daughter, Aubry and two sons, Bill and Christopher.
