ANCHORAGE, AK -- December 22, 1998 -- Bob Malone, President and CEO/COO of Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, announced today that Bill Howitt will serve as Alyeska Senior Vice President with responsibility for the Fairbanks Business Unit. Mr. Howitt has been serving in this capacity on an interim basis since September 1998.

Mr. Howitt has been with Alyeska Pipeline for almost 24 years, joining Alyeska as a Project Engineer during construction. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Corporate Services in the Anchorage Office. Prior to that assignment, Mr. Howitt was assigned to BP Pipelines. He served as Vice President of BP Pipelines, Alaska, and the Operations Manager for a new pipeline and marine terminal in Venezuela.

Mr. Howitt has held several senior-level positions at Alyeska Pipeline, including Vice President of Human Resources, Vice President of Engineering and Projects, Manager of Engineering, and Superintendent of the Valdez Marine Terminal.

Mr. Howitt and his wife Kay will move to Fairbanks.
