ALYESKA DONATES $1 MILLION TO AFN FOUNDATION

ANCHORAGE, AK May 27, 1999 Alyeska Pipeline presented at check for $1 million to the
Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) Foundation today. The $1 million is the fourth
installment in a $7 million commitment by Alyeska and the owners of the Trans Alaska
Pipeline System. This installment brings the total amount donated by Alyeska to $5
million.
Alyeska is proud of its partnership with AFN.
Both organizations will benefit from work of the Foundation and were proud to
support the effort, said Bob Malone, President and CEO of Alyeska Pipeline.
The AFN Foundation is designed to provide employment and
training to Alaska Natives for job opportunities in the oil industry. Alyeska
Pipeline on behalf of its owners made the commitment to donate $7 million to the
Foundation as part of the Native Utilization Agreement signed with the Department of the
Interior in 1995.
The Native Utilization Agreement describes how
Alyeska will recruit, train, and hire Alaska Natives for employment with Alyeska Pipeline
and principal contractors on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System.
