ALYESKA PERSONNEL ON WATCH FOR Y2K DATE CHANGE

ANCHORAGE, AK – December 31, 1999, 8:00 p.m. – As part of the preparation for the Y2K year change, Alyeska Pipeline Service Company has positioned additional staff along the pipeline, at the Marine Terminal and at the business headquarters in Anchorage and Fairbanks.  Approximately 225 additional people are on duty through the night.  Alyeska Pipeline President Bob Malone and Senior Management are on-site in Anchorage, Valdez and Fairbanks to manage any issues that may arise.

Alyeska’s dedicated Global Watch team began monitoring the status and impacts of Y2K on the oil industry and general community infrastructures around the world today beginning at 2:00 a.m.  Alyeska is coordinating with other organizations to obtain technical information on Y2K incidents to evaluate any potential impacts on Alyeska’s operating systems.  No significant issues have arisen.

Pipeline operations are normal. Additional information will be released throughout the night as needed.
