WOOLSTON PROMOTED, MACKIE HIRED AT ALYESKA

ANCHORAGE, AK May
12, 2000 Melphine Evans, Alyeska Senior Vice President of Administration announced
that Tim Woolston is being promoted to External Affairs Director, succeeding Jennifer
Ruys, who is leaving Alyeska to take a position with BP Amoco in New York City. Also,
retiring State Senator Jerry Mackie is joining Alyeska in a new position as State
Government Affairs Manager.
Ruys joined Alyeska in 1994 as Media Relations Manager and
was named External Affairs Director earlier this year. She takes a position effective June
1 in the Media Relations Department of BP Amocos New York office.
Woolston joined Alyeska as Media Relations Manager in
March, after 14 years as a television and radio journalist in Alaska, including 10 years
at KTUU-TV. As External Affairs Director, he will be responsible for all internal
and external communications, media relations, community relations and state and federal
government relations.
Tim brings a good mix of communication skills and
management experience to this position, providing Alyeska a smooth transition in the
External Affairs Department. Jennifer has done a tremendous job for us for six
years, and we wish her well in her new opportunity,said Evans.
Mackie joins Alyeska as State Government Affairs Manager,
reporting to Woolston. The position is responsible for developing relationships with state
and local government agencies, lawmakers and administrators to communicate the
companys position on various issues and inform them on Alyeska projects. Mackie will
be based in Juneau.
Mackie is retiring from the Alaska Legislature after 10
years. He has spent the last four years in the Senate, including this last term as
Majority Leader. Before the Senate, Mackie spent six years in the House, including a term
as Minority Leader. He has also served as a board member of the Alaska Federation of
Natives, spent ten years as a commercial fisherman in southeast Alaska, and built and
managed the Sunnahae Lodge in Craig. Mackie was born and raised in Craig.
Jerry brings a broader perspective on ways to work
with government officials and agencies. He also will help us to be innovative and creative
in how we solve problems, said Evans.
