|
ANCHORAGE, AK
July 13, 2000. Anchorage, AK. The Alyeska Board of
Directors has named David Wight President and Chief Executive Officer at Alyeska Pipeline
Service Company. Wight comes to Alaska after eight years as President and General Manager
of BP Amoco Energy Company of Trinidad and Tobago. He has been with the Amoco group since
1964.
The board is
pleased to have David join Alyeska. He brings a great deal of experience and background to
the position. We look forward to working with him on continuing the progress made in
recent years, said Dick Rabinow, President of ExxonMobil Pipeline Company and Chair
of the TAPS Owners Committee.
After graduating
from Texas Tech University with a Petroleum Engineering degree in 1964, Wight (pronounced
White) went to work for Amoco Production Company in Texas as a petroleum engineer. His
career with Amoco took him to Kansas, Chicago and Denver before being named in 1989 as
Amoco Vice President in charge of production in the Middle East and Africa. In 1990, Wight
became Managing Director of GUPCO, a joint venture company with the government of Egypt.
From 1992 until
today, Wight has served as President and General Manager of BP Amoco Company of Trinidad
and Tobago. During his tenure, the company established the first liquified natural gas
plant in Trinidad, only the second LNG plant in the Western Hemisphere. Wight has also
been very active in the communities in which he has lived.
Wight is expected
to begin his job at Alyeska before the end of summer. He replaces Bob
Malone, who left Alyeska last month to become BP Amocos Regional President, Western
United States.
I look
forward to working with David in continuing to implement the strategies weve been
developing at Alyeska in recent years, said Dan Hisey, who continues in his new role
as Chief Operating Officer at Alyeska.
