PIPELINE TO SHUT DOWN FOR SCHEDULED ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
VALVE REPLACEMENT AMONG MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES
FAIRBANKS, AK - July 25, 2002 Alyeska Pipeline Service Company will initiate a scheduled shutdown of the trans-Alaska pipeline July 27th and 28th for the primary purpose of replacing Remote Gate Valve 39 near Coldfoot. Additional planned maintenance work will be performed at all pipeline pump stations and the Valdez Marine Terminal. The shutdown will begin at 7:00 AM, Saturday, July 27th and is scheduled to last approximately 30 hours.
While the valve replacement is occurring, a variety of smaller maintenance projects will take place at various locations along the 800-mile pipeline system. Alyeska has coordinated the shutdown operation with the North Slope producers. Oil flow into Pump Station 1 will be approximately 30 percent of the typical flow rate throughout the shutdown. The pipeline is scheduled to be restarted at 10:00 AM Sunday. It is anticipated that there will be no disruption of service of North Slope crude oil deliveries as a result of the shutdown.
