Alyeska Pipeline Set to Initiate
Shutdowns
ANCHORAGE, AK –
Alyeska Pipeline Service Company will complete a series of
line-wide maintenance projects during two pipeline shutdowns
scheduled this summer. Work during the first shutdown will begin
at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, and will last approximately 30
hours.
Oil will stop flowing through the trans-Alaska pipeline while
maintenance crews work on projects along the pipeline from Prudhoe
Bay to the marine terminal in Valdez. The scope of work for this
shutdown includes a myriad of tasks ranging from replacement of
pig trap valves to performing maintenance on selected Remote Gate
Valves.
Alyeska conducts line-wide shutdowns nearly every year to allow
crews to work on projects in various locations simultaneously
along the pipeline. The shutdown is scheduled to coincide with the
producers’ routine maintenance on equipment and facilities on the
North Slope. The pipeline is scheduled to restart at 12 p.m. on
Sunday, July 11.
The second summer shutdown is scheduled for August 16 and 17.
During that shutdown, preparatory work will be conducted at some
of the pump stations as part of Strategic Reconfiguration.
