Alyeska Restarts Pipeline
After Planned Shutdown
Anchorage, AK – Alyeska Pipeline Service Company successfully
restarted the Trans Alaska Pipeline System at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday,
August 17, after completing a series of line-wide maintenance
tasks and projects relating to Strategic Reconfiguration at two of
the northern pump stations. During the shutdown, work at Pump
Stations 1 and 3 centered around the placement of infrastructure
that will eventually connect the pipeline to new, electrically
driven pump modules.
Work crews also successfully replaced two pig trap valves and
performed maintenance and tests on selected Remote Gate Valves.
Alyeska conducts line-wide shutdowns nearly every year to allow
crews to work on projects in various locations simultaneously
along the pipeline.
The shutdown coincided with the oil producers’ routine maintenance
on equipment and facilities on the North Slope. The shutdown began
at 6:00 a.m. Monday, August 16.
