Alyeska to shutdown pipeline for project work and scheduled maintenance
Anchorage, AK – The second of two scheduled pipeline shutdowns
will begin July 23rd at 6:00 a.m. The shutdown will last
approximately 36 hours while maintenance crews work on projects
from Prudhoe Bay to the marine terminal in Valdez.
The primary scope of work for this shutdown includes:
- Installing infrastructure at Pump Station 9 for the new
electric driven pumps for the Strategic Reconfiguration (SR)
project.
- Install a 48 inch straight run mainline pipe at Pump Station
12.
- Perform a myriad of maintenance tasks on selected valves.
Alyeska conducts line-wide shutdowns nearly every year to allow
maintenance crews time to work on projects simultaneously along the
pipeline and at the terminal. Alyeska safely and successfully
completed a similar slate of tasks during a shutdown in June.
The pipeline is scheduled to restart at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July
24, 2005.
