Alyeska President David Wight Announces Retirement;
Kevin Hostler Named as His Successor
Anchorage, AK – David Wight, President and Chief Executive
Officer of Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, has announced his
intention to retire at the end of September after leading the
company for five years and completing a noteworthy career of 41
years in the oil and gas industry.
The TAPS Owners Committee has concurrently named Kevin M. Hostler
to succeed Wight in the President and Chief Executive Officer
position. Hostler is currently Senior Vice President, Global
Operations-Human Resources, with BP in Houston, Texas.
David Wight was appointed to the Alyeska President's position in
July, 2000, and he led the company through one of the most
important times in its history. During his tenure, Alyeska renewed
its right-of-way agreements with federal and state governments and
Alaska Native organizations. Wight has also managed one of the
most comprehensive reconfigurations of the Trans Alaska Pipeline
System in its 28-year life. The company's safety and
environmental performance has also continued to improve over the
past five years. Wight is active in the community in Alaska and
serves on many boards including the Nature Conservancy, Success by
Six, Alaska Command Civilian Advisory Board and the University of
Alaska Board of Advisors. Before his Alyeska responsibilities,
Wight had served over 36 years in positions of increasing
responsibility in Amoco and BP, which culminated in his serving as
president of BP Energy Company of Trinidad and Tobago. Wight and
his wife, Carla, are expected to remain in Alaska as they’ve
valued their time in the state and the relationships they have
made.
"We have appreciated David's exemplary service during his tenure
and particularly would like to recognize his constant commitment
to operations excellence and to the highest standards of business
integrity," said Mike Tudor, President of ExxonMobil Pipeline
Company and Chair of the TAPS Owners Committee. "David has always
exhibited the deepest care for Alyeska, its employees, and the
state of Alaska," noted Tudor.
Hostler will take over as Alyeska President and Chief Executive
Officer on October 1st. He has had a diverse 28-year career with
BP and its successor companies, and has had leadership assignments
in the United States, England, Scotland, and Columbia. His most
recent position as senior vice president for BP's global human
resources organization has required his management of the
company's worldwide businesses, and he has extensive experience in
the production and operations sides of the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Hostler graduated from the University of Alabama with a
bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
"The board is very pleased to have Kevin join Alyeska. He brings a
comprehensive set of operating, management, and leadership skills
to the company, and we look forward to working with him as we seek
to continuously enhance Alyeska's safety, environmental, and
business performance," said Tudor.
