ALYESKA REPORT

Power Outage at Valdez Marine
Terminal
A power outage occurred at the Valdez
Marine Terminal at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3. The Terminal operated on emergency and
back up power which were able to provide adequate power for the Operations Control Center
and emergency functions such as fire suppression. Full power was restored at approximately
2:05 p.m.
The outage lasted approximately four hours.
Pipeline throughput was not affected during this incident. During the outage, oil flowed
into storage tanks and tank vapors were released to the atmosphere. Notifications to the
proper regulatory agencies have been made. Tanker loading was halted when the power went
out. Tanker loading operations returned to normal at 5:40 p.m.
The cause of the outage is currently under
investigation.
