ALYESKA REPORT
WEEK OF JANUARY 11, 1999

Valdez Sr. Vice President to Retire

Bill Newbold, Sr. Vice President for the Valdez Business Unit, will retire from Alyeska Pipeline on July 1, 1999. Mr. Newbold has been with Alyeska since September 1993, as manager of the Valdez Marine Terminal. Mr. Newbold came to Alyeska Pipeline from Exxon after 26 years of service.

Unannounced Drill Called at Marine Terminal

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation called an unannounced oil spill response personnel drill on Thursday, January 8. The drill tested the number of response workers available within 30 minutes to arrive at the Valdez Marine Terminal. Alyeska Pipeline’s oil spill contingency plan requires 39 people to be available within the 30 minute time-frame. Forty-five people arrived on-site for the drill.
