ALYESKA REPORT
WEEK OF FEBRUARY 1, 1999

Tanker Loading Resumes

Alyeska Pipeline resumed tanker transfer operations Sunday evening after being shutdown for approximately 54 hours because of high winds. High winds and high waves prohibited the work crews from being able to encircle the berthed tankers with containment boom. Boom is placed around each tanker berthed at the Valdez Marine Terminal before transfer operations can be begin. The first of the three tankers at berth began de-ballasting at 11:40 p.m. on Sunday. All three tankers were de-ballasting by 4:10 a.m. Monday. The first cargo loading operation started on Monday at 7:05 a.m.

Storage tank levels at the Marine Terminal reached 81 percent of working capacity before tanker cargo loading operations were restarted. There was no impact on pipeline throughput.
