Alyeska Repairs Isolation Valve
Alyeska crews found an approximately one
gallon crude oil spill at Check Valve 70 on Tuesday during a routine patrol of the
pipeline work pad. It appears the spill came from a one and a half inch isolation valve on
the drainage line of the check valve.
The majority of the oil fell onto the check
valve platform and piping. A small amount of the oil fell to the ground. The isolation
valve was repaired that same day . A three person clean up crew has completed clean up of
the area..
The cause of the spill is being
investigated. This appears to be an isolated incident. Alyeska is planning to inspect all
similar check valves.
The drainage line is used for maintenance
purposes and does not affect the performance of the check valve.
