New Tractor Tug to Be Christened
The new tractor tug Tanerliq
will be christened June 11, in Tatitlek by Tatitlek second-grader Gwen Vlasoff. Miss
Vlasoff named Tanerliq as part of the Alyeska Name the Tug
contest held in 1998. Tanerliq means black bear in Alutiiq.
Tanerliq is the second of two
enhanced tractor tugs designed and built specifically for tanker escort service in Prince
William Sound. Tanerliqs sister ship, Nanuq, was christened in
February in Valdez. The 153-foot, 10,000 horsepower state-of-the-art vessel will be placed
into service with Alyeska Pipelines tanker escort fleet.

Pipeline Reliability
Pipeline throughput for May 1999 totaled
34,642,000 barrels, with a daily average of 1.12 million barrels per day. Pipeline
throughput for the year to date is 172,640,000 barrels, averaging 1.14 million barrels per
day. Pipeline reliability for May was 100 percent, making the year to date reliability
99.88 percent.
