WEEK OF MAY 31, 2000

Repairs to Mechanical Damage Complete

Repairs to mechanical damage on the pipeline near Mile Post 710 were completed on Friday, May 26. Alyeska Pipeline crews discovered damage on the outside of the pipeline during an underground corrosion investigation dig a week earlier. The damage included gouges in five areas that appeared to have been caused by mechanical equipment during construction of the pipeline. The damaged wall surface was sandblasted, coated and steel sleeves were installed at two of the five areas to restore the pipe to original maximum allowable operating pressure of 901 pounds per square inch.
