Valve repairs planned on gas line at Pump Station 4

During routine maintenance at the end of May, trans-Alaska pipeline maintenance technicians discovered a tiny gas leak in an incoming gas line valve-gasket in the gas building at Pump Station 4. Valve maintenance specialists were called in to do valve maintenance and try to seal the valve gasket leak with no success. It was then determined that the valve should be repaired.

This Friday, Pump Station 4 will be converted to liquid fuel for about three hours while the affected valve is isolated. The valve will be pulled from service for repair and the affected portion of gas line will continue to be isolated until the scheduled pipeline shutdown in September, at which time the repaired valve will be reinstalled.
