The 800-mile-long Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) is one of the world's largest pipeline systems. Starting in Prudhoe Bay on Alaska’s North Slope, TAPS stretches through rugged and beautiful terrain to Valdez, the northernmost ice-free port in North America. Since pipeline startup in 1977, Alyeska - TAPS' operator - has successfully transported more than 16 billion barrels of oil.

Legislative citation presented to TAPS

Alaska State Representative Eric Feige (R-District 12) visited Pump Station 1 to commemorate the anniversary of the January 2011 shutdown and to deliver a legislative citation to the crew there. Feige told TAPS workers, “Ninety-two percent of the state’s revenue comes through this building and Alaskans are grateful for the work you did last winter to keep the oil moving under challenging conditions.” Story | Citation

Alyeska supports Valdez High School's Marine Tech program

Alyeska completes Low Flow Impact Study

Alyeska has completed a comprehensive Low Flow Impact Study (LoFIS) on behalf of the TAPS owners. The study evaluated the potential risks associated with declining throughput and lower oil temperatures and identified mitigation measures.

“The study findings make it clear that the technical challenges compound and increase in complexity as throughput declines. The simplest, most direct and cost effective path to dealing with these challenges is to stop the decline by adding more oil.”
