Alyeska’s Environmental Program
Our mission is to provide high quality customer service, environmental
direction and leadership so that Alyeska Pipeline Service Company
complies with environmental laws and regulations and proactively
minimizes environmental impacts.
Alyeska’s environmental program is infused in everything we do. From the
operations technician to the catering staff, from the vehicle mechanic
to construction and maintenance crews, all employees and contractors of
Alyeska Pipeline Service Company are trained and routinely made aware of
Alyeska’s commitment to regulatory compliance and environmental
protection. This awareness is maintained through the delivery of formal
classes, informal discussions of requirements at shift change meetings,
posting of informational signs, and hands-on interaction between
environmental professionals and field personnel.
Alyeska has environmental regulatory experts based in Anchorage and
Fairbanks. Alyeska’s Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) acquire permits for
pipeline and terminal operations, maintenance and new projects,
negotiate permit conditions with environmental agencies, and coordinate
their area-specific program for Alyeska.
Alyeska also has environmental coordinators that are physically based on
the pipeline and at the Valdez Marine Terminal. Alyeska’s Environmental
Coordinators (ECs) assist the Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and the
various field-based contract groups to understand and comply with
Alyeska’s environmental philosophy, requirements, and expectations.
