The Contingency and ICS Planning team coordinated the Alyeska-sponsored Family Holiday Movie at the Valdez Civic Center on Sunday, Dec. 11. Open to all, approximately 240 community members attended to watch “A Christmas Story.”

Team members greeted guests with a free ticket for the movie, and a coupon for a free popcorn and drink at concessions. There was also an opportunity for pictures with Santa, homemade ornaments, and holiday cookies!

Compliance coordinators Lori Day and Mel Brewi created and spearheaded the event with help from enthusiastic coworkers.

“I love that our team looks for ways to bring people together and build community every day, especially this time of year,” said Andres Morales, Director of Emergency Response and Preparedness.

The holiday movie was supported by excited Valdez residents and organizations. Bob Harden was a jolly Santa Claus. The Valdez Emblem Club #514 donated more than 800 cookies. The Valdez Torpedoes, the town’s local swim team, volunteered their time to help with tickets, take pictures and make ornaments. Seed Media donated digital advertising and the Fraternal Order of Eagles donated more than $400 to pay for local radio advertisements.

“A huge shout-out goes to those who made this family event fun and successful,” said Lori. “From the Contingency and ICS Planning Team to our entire TAPS Family: Happy Holidays!”
