Thankful for the opportunity to give back

For 23 years, Alyeska’s Anchorage-based staff has celebrated Thanksgiving and the season’s spirit of gratitude by serving Thanksgiving meals to students and staff at Russian Jack Elementary School. The tradition continued on Nov. 22, and it was tough to tell who was happier: the diminutive diners or our enthusiastic servers.

Seventeen TAPS volunteers served turkey and ham, corn and dressing, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, buns and butter, and regular or chocolate milk, along with the classic Thanksgiving dessert: pumpkin pie and whipped cream (there was Jello and chocolate chip cookies, too)! Around 300 students, from preschoolers to 5th graders, and about 40 hardworking staff enjoyed the hearty holiday lunch, which was crafted by Scott from Twigs Catering.

As always, Alyeska volunteers were thankful to prep the plates, spend time with the excited young students, chat with the teachers and staff who keep the school buzzing, and continue a community connection that means so much to so many at Alyeska and Russian Jack.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving, everyone! #TAPSPride #Thankful
